There should not be any problem.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.
Metformin is quite a safe drug if we talk about episode of hypoglycemia. So in my opinion there should be no problem if you have taken an extra tablet. Just drink good quantity of water keep a chocolate or a candy with you if you feel signs and symptoms of low blood sugar like dizziness, trembling, weakness, you can consume sugar, otherwise in my opinion you should stay fine and there should me no real problem with the extra pill you took.
This being said I would always advise you to take special care while taking medication , this could have been any other medication which could be dangerous in overdose.
I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.
Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
