What Are The Risks Associated With Pelvic X-ray During The First Trimester?
Question: I just discovered I am pregnant In the last 3 weeks I have had investigations for a slipped lumbar disc ( pelvic X-ray/ MRI) and been prescribed tramadol ( I only took for two days), diclofenac, stilpane ( taken for 4 weeks) and vimovo( naproxen ans esomeprazole)!!!! I have stopped everything - will have to cope with pain another way, but can't help feeling this all has doomed the pregnancy!
Brief Answer:
Contraindicated in first trimester
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Pelvic X Ray radiation is known to harm the fetus in first trimester.
Diclofenac, tramadol, stilpane, naproxen- all are contraindicated in pregnancy and should not be taken in early pregnancy.
If you are keen for continuing the pregnancy, then you should get a detailed anomaly ultrasound at 18-20 weeks to rule out any major congenital anomalies and decide accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
