What Are The Risks Of Developing HIV Post An Unprotected Oral Sex?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
I just want to know whether I can be sure that I don't have risk of getting HIV?
'm not sure whether I used my condom correctly and properly. Can you please tell me what process of correctly using condom?
By the way, is there any previous documented case that HIV is transmitted by correctly using condom without any breakage and slip
Negligible risk of Hiv though safer to get screened for STDs
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have read your question and I have noted your concern.
Oral sex is relatively safer as compared to vaginal sex and carries a negligible risk of Hiv, nevertheless, it is a good practice to get screened for Hiv.
However, unprotected oral sex is also a risk factor for transmission of herpes.
As far as protected vaginal sex is concerned, there is no risk of Hiv, if the condom was intact. An intact condom guarantees adequate protection against Hiv and there have been no documented cases of transmission of Hiv provided the condom did'nt break Or slip, however, even a condom does not guarantee protection from all STDs and herpes, Hpv, syphilis can still be transmitted despite protected vaginal sex, through skin to skin contact, because a condom covers only a portion of shaft of penis and leaves adjacent pubic skin and base of shaft exposed to skin to skin contact and contact with vaginal secretions. Therefore I suggest you to get screened for herpes, syphilis as well as Hiv at 4 weeks and repeat testing at 12 weeks.
A condom should be worn when the penis is fully erect. It should be of appropriate size i.e covers most of shaft of penis. A condom is rolled down from the tip to bottom of an erect penis, for its full length and usually gets secured in its place by a rim, which is slightly tighter as compared to the rest of condom.
