What Are The Side Effect Of Placida?

Over all the drug is safe but long term use associated with withdrawal
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM
Placida is a fixed dose combination of Flupentixol and Melitracen. Both of these drugs are psychoactive drugs and the combination is used widely in anxiety disorders, depressive illnesses. Recently it has been banned in XXXXXXX due to some non specific reasons.
Over all the drug is safe to use but it has potential to produce dependence. The drug can cause rapid heart rate, fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia, irritation as side effect. These side effects usually improve with time and don't pose serious risk. In some studies long term use of the drug is found to be associated with neurological side effects and some effects on coordination but results were not reproduced in follow up studies. In my clinic I have seen a lot of patients who were taking the drug for long time and quitted without any significant withdrawal.
You develop symptoms of withdrawal when you don't use the drug for some days. Most likely the reason for such symptoms is psychological because withdrawal after 10-12 days is not commonly seen. You have been taking the drug on SOS basis and not regularly so as per my opinion the reason for withdrawal is purely psychological. To quit using drug you can reduce the dose of drug and try to prolong interval between intake. You can take half tablet instead full tablet when needed and after about 4-6 weeks you can stop the drug completely. In this way you will not face serious side effects and the withdrawal will be uneventful. Consult a psychiatrist for detailed help and prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Please ask again for more doubts.
