What Are The Side Effects Of Melatonin?
Question: Are there any downside to taking Melatonin 3 mg. Mom is 91, and cant sleep much at night. She takes blood pressure meds.
Brief Answer:
there are some potential side effects
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
it's effective in some people. It's more effective in people with a sleep cycle disorder (like people traveling from one continent to the other - jet lag). 3mg sounds like a good dose. I would like to know the drugs she's taking to make sure there are no interactions between them and melatonin though.
Potential side effects include: dizziness, drowsiness (particularly for 30-60 minutes after taking the drug), daytime fatigue and/or somnolence), headache, nausea, enuresis (loosing urine at night), depression, etc.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.
Kind Regards!

12.5 hctz.... Coq10,vitd3
Brief Answer:
no interactions
Detailed Answer:
No serious interaction is expected between melatonin and any of the drugs you've mentioned. Let me comment thought that using multaq with hydrochlorothiazide requires close monitoring of the electrolytes levels (potassium levels in particular).
Kind Regards!
