Posted on Fri, 12 May 2017
Question: can an upper thigh none painful bulge be some kind of hernia? it is more a lateral bulge than a vertical bulgtoe that runs up to the pelvic area. It does not cross the line between upper leg and pelvic area

Brief Answer:
Respected xxxxxx,hi doesn`t seem hernia but strongly require photograph.

Detailed Answer:
Respected xxxxxx,
hi
I evaluated your query thoroughly.
*The bulge is not crossing line between upper leg & pelvic area, that rules out
possibilities of hernia.
*As per narration , seems mostly lipoma / sebaceous cyst in nature.
*Would like to have a photograph of the same as an attachment to review & give
more detailed expert opinion regarding the same.
*Additional details of history of any trauma, associated other conditions or any
other information you want to share is appreciable.

Hope this clears your query.

There has not been any trauma that I am aware of although I am very active running, biking, lifting, golfing etc. I tried a picture but can't see any real depth perception. It is soft and a couple inches long. It is most noticeable when I stand straight up and comparing if to same location in the other leg

Brief Answer:
Respected xxxxxx, try photograph else we will think other option

Detailed Answer:
Respected xxxxxx, hi don`t worry about depth perception, take any photograph in standing position when it is noticeable most to evaluate
*Because your this narration is contradictory to your previous writing where it was written it is not going beyond upper leg as if it is so true it will not more noticeable when standing that supports possibility of hernia.
*Just take photograph & upload then we will discuss further.
Thanks regards

Brief Answer:
Respected xxxxxxx, some suggestions for clue

Detailed Answer:
Respected xxxxxxx hi give me following answers :
- is it moving outside body / going inside ? if yes then how , when
- what is the progress of the size since origin ?
- consistency of the swelling.
- any associated problems with that ?
- any difference of overlying skin texture ?
- exactly it is only restricted to thigh & not going or encroching groin which is
aside to pubic bone and genitals.

There is not any encroaching to the groin / public area. I honestly can't say about enlargement. I just kind of noticed it. No outside skin proplems. I can shift it with my hand slightly. I thought hernia as I have had them before but I could not figure out would be coming through a tear that was not in the groin area like where my intestine of something could protrude thru

Brief Answer:
Respected xxxxxx it`s Lipoma not hernia. No surgery/treatment required.

Detailed Answer:
Respected xxxxxxx, hi I had gone through your photograph.
*It`s clearly not hernia at all.
*It is subcutaneous Lipoma due to accumulation of fat only , nothing else.
*Nothing to worry, bother, no requirement of surgery / no medicines at present.
*If it grows very large in size or bothers with pain then & then only some
intervention is needed otherwise not for rest of your life.
Thanks
Hope this has cleared all your doubts.
