What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of Rabies?
Question: Apologies if you find my question too lenghty. Some facts before I ask my question:
1> in the year 2012, I was bitten by my pet dog, I took 4 or 5 doses of ARV along with HRIG. I completed the vaccination course. This happened in XXXXXXX
2> Recently on 6th January, 2017 a pet dog in my maternal uncle's house bit me again. I took all the 5 doses of vaccine, but no HRIG. The dog is still alive and vaccinated.
3> its been 5 months of accident, the biting one, I am still getting pain, numbness. Cold feeling in the nerves, somet_imes burning etc. Now my question:
A. The symptoms I am going through, are they of rabies?
B. Can iv catheter insertion create nerve problem?

Brief Answer:
Post-exposure prophylaxis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You are well-vaccinated against rabies.
RIG should not be administered to previously vaccinated persons. Hence no RIG in XXXXXXX 2017 was a correct decision.
Rabies is a rapidly progressive, acute infectious disease of the central nervous system (CNS) in humans. There is no chronic form of the disease.
Your present symptoms of pain, numbness. cold feeling in the nerves, sometimes burning etc is not due to Rabies.
IV catheter/needle during insertion can inadvertently injure adjacent nerve/nerve terminal as it is a blind procedure but usually, it is only temporary and symptoms resolve in due course of time.
