What Are The Symptoms Of Bacterial Meningitis?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 May 2014
Question: I am currently writing a creative essay about a pediatrician who has to deal with a breakout of bacterial meningitis. I am trying to find out what are the lines of connection to seeing a kid with such infection. I'm also trying to figure out what would happen to a pediatrician after residency and what changes he /she would end up going through. Thank you.

Brief Answer: I am ready to help you. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing to health care magic. I am ready to help you with my answer. Good to know that you are writing such a essay. Pediatrics is a special branch which requires lot of special skills. One basic difference between Pediatrics and other branches is that other patients most of the times can convey what their problem is. Pediatrician on the other hand should identify certain signs to identify a diagnosis and rely on the history given by the attenders. Pediatrician normally deals with parents who are really anxious. A person is normally more anxious when his kid is sick than when he himself is sick or when his parents are sick. Some times these anxious parents do not accept the reality. A person normally loves his children more than any thing else in this world. Pediatrician should be a parent himself before he is a Pediatrician. Thus he can understand the anxiety of the parent with sick children. A Pediatrician should be gentle and have lot of patience. Only thus he can examine the uncooperative children. A child with meningitis may present to a paediatrician in many ways. He may have a short duration of fever with vomiting or seizures. Some times they present with fever of few days with pain in the neck or difficulty moving the neck. An infant may present with poor feeding, lethargy etc. He may have bulging anterior fontanel. Please ask specific questions so that I can keep answering them and help in writing of the article. Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps.
