I had by-pass surgery in 1998. Would this rule out regular surgery to replace an aortic valve? or must I have a TAVR?
Brief Answer:
Welcome back
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
Decision regarding to TAVR vs open heart surgery is made after carefully discussion of all risks. In case of high surgical risk patients are planned for TAVR.
Almost all patients with advanced age undergo TAVR, so even in absence of previews open heart surgery, there is high probability, that you would be planned for TAVR.
Actually TAVR has good results, especially in experienced centers.

Welcome back

Two days ago I hit my in the back area of her right ankle area. Tonight she asked me feel the "bump" there (she is 82). I felt no bump there but when I pressed a bit on it I discovered a marble sized growth. It hurt her only when she lays on it in bed. Could this be a blood clot?
Brief Answer:
Welcome back
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
It is very difficult to say without examination.
It can be a hematoma as well if the skin is blue.
In case of clot, there should be other symptoms such as leg pain, color change, etc.
Anyway, I think it is better to see a doctor to avoid further complications.
