default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: I take 1800mg of gabapenten per day for my spinal stenosis cause of pain and it helped reduce pain, especially in my hamstrings. Question: before surgery on my left hip, should I reduce or discontinue this medication? I am 90 years of age. I also have a hydrocele sixe of small orange; should I have this surgery before or during hip surgery? Would it be too much pain and risk?

Brief Answer:
Yes you can continue gabapentin around surgery also.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Yes you can continue gabapentin around surgery also.

Discuss with your joint replacement surgeon regarding hydrocele surgery, but its better to first do surgery for hydrocele and then joint to avoid infection.

There is no much pain and risk for hydrocele surgery.
