Brief Answer: Likely to be due to nerve irritation. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query. A burning sensation at the base of the wrist can be due to a mild nerve injury or compression due to the swelling in the area of fracture. This will gradually subside on its own in few weeks. If there is no intense pain and you can move your fingers without any pain and there is no numbness or loss of muscle strength then a nerve injury is not likely. I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health. Regards. Dr. Praveen Tayal.
