This medicine is being given to me for the treatment of paranoia schizophrenia which it
helps to eliminate all psychiatric symptoms, but I feel myself starting to feel physically sick, and the mental health clinic told me to go to the medical doctor.
Prolixin can cause GI symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Fluphenazine ( prolixin ) used every 4th week for schizophrenia can be the reason for your these GI symptoms as its anticholinergic effects, reducing gag reflex, reducing bowel flow and causing constipation can lead to all these bloating , cramping, heartburn etc more likely. Also it leads to weight gain and that in turn affects the GI symptoms more.
I would suggest take symptomatic remedies like pepto, some motility enhancing medications, modifying diet and lifestyle, eat small frequent meals. avoid dairy products, fatty meals, processed & canned foods, stimulants, alcohol, caffeine etc as all these can worsen the GI symptoms .
You are already on proton pump inhibitors, adding above mentioned adjustments to your treatment will help the GI symptoms. Talk to your doctor and let them decide what is best for you.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
