What Causes A Dark Blotch On The Tongue?
what should I do?
Very likely it is not something to worry, monitor it in the next 10days
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
If you have not noticed the dark area on the tongue before and you relate it to after taking medications than it is very likely nothing to worry. Generally lesions that are serious develop gradually in weeks to months time.
I would say that make sure you have good regular oral hygiene with tongue cleaning also and check how it will be in the next 10 days.
Another thing to help is having a picture with a meter close to the lesion so you can know the size of it and if it is changing.
So to conclude I would say:
1. Make sure you have a good oral hygiene and softy washing the tongue with the brush daily also
2. Make sure you take medication with plenty of water, some can really cause burning or the mucosa
3. If you smoke this might be a good time to consider quitting as smoking might affect the mucosa a lot
4. make a picture of the lesion with a meter close to it so you can easily monitor the changes.
5. If you see no improvement of the lesion in 7-10 days or you notice any worsening in color, size or shape you will need to see a doctor.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to let me know if anymore clarification is needed related to this.
Kind regards
