What Causes A Hard And Pus Filled Boil On Skin?

Question: I had a boil. Yesterday I got a hair out of it and a lot of pus came out today but there is still some occasionally coming out. I'm on ammoxil. I'm worried because it's still hard around the boil but not hot but still a bit red. It doesn't hurt much just mildly sensitive to the touch. Does this hardness mean it needs more draining
Brief Answer:
It is due to folliculitis
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
You are suffering from folliculitis. The hair on our skin grows from hair follicles which have sebaceous glands draining at its base. The sebaceous glands secrete the oily (cheesy) substance that lubricates our skin and when these glands get inflamed and infected you get the condition that you have described. You need not worry. Amoxycillin works well in such situations and things should be ok back soon. I would insist you to apply some topical antibiotic like mupirocin or neosporin alongside. The redness would soon subside.
The hardening does not mean that further draining is required.
Let me know if I could help further.
Regards

Since this started draining a couple of pimples have popped up around it. I have been keeping it clean but it continues to crust over. I'm concerned that it's not healing. What suggestions do you have to speed up the process of healing?
Brief Answer:
Antibiotics are likely to be required
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.
I have seen the attached image. I think that you need to take some oral antibiotic like amoxycillin. Since it is a prescription medicine, discuss about it with your doctor. You can also apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin.
Be patient. Things would soon be fine back again.
