What Causes A Lump On The Head After Injury?

Question: Hello. I hit my head getting my granddaughter out of her car seat on my car door frame. I did not think much about it at the time. A day later I had a goose egg and now it is 5 days later and I still have the goose egg. The goose egg was very sore 3 days ago and the soreness is better. I would like to know how long it might take for the goose egg to go away and if I should be concerned that it is still there. It is on the top part of my head and the lymph node in the back of my neck is swollen in response to it. I was reading on the internet and that was not a smart thing to do :). I have not had any headaches or other signs of brain trauma. My main question is when or if I do I need to see a doctor if the goose egg (3/4 inch wide) does not go away soon. I feel silly asking but the internet kind of scared me about hitting your head when you are older. I am 59.

Post trauma hematoma formation. no need to consult doctor at present.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* Hematoma formation post trauma .

* It is self limiting condition usually takes around 2 weeks to get absorbed as
per the size mentioned here , may vary from person to person .

* Reasons for not to worry at this stage
- you are concious - no vomiting - no vertigo - no convulsions

* Suggestions for better outcome

- Continue ice application for 5 minutes each 4 - 5 times a day .
- Local application of turmeric paste for 10 minutes each session 3 times a day
will fasten the recovery period .
- Avoid direct pressure .
- Drink plenty of liquids .

- Keep a watch on its progress ( it will resolve gradually day by day , not
necessary to rush to doctor at present stage )
- Continue ibuprofen 3 times a day after meals .
- Avoid smoking or alcohol if using .

Hope this will help you .

Thank you. I have felt fine other than soreness. I was not concerned until I was looking up on the internet how long the goose egg might take to go down. Everything is super serious on the internet. Because I am older, I thought I better check and I love Healthcare magic for a quick way to get some medical guidance. I do not smoke or drink. I have never heard of turmeric paste. I will put ice on it as often as I can. I work during the day so 4-5 times may be difficult. Thanks again and have a great day!

Brief Answer:
Explained turmeric paste easy , simple organic way of healing .

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear

Thanks for the details .

* Do not worry at all . You will be fine within some days .

* Internet is scarring in so many conditions , it is the point where the clinical
experience of the experts come into action to guide better precisely .

* Turmeric paste is nothing but just taking 5 gm of turmeric powder mixing it
with 2 - 3 ml of distilled water , make a paste , just apply it over the goose
thin layer , keep it there for 10 minutes and then wash it .

* If feels problematic opt for just aloe vera gel .

* Even if you are working , you can do it once in morning before going to work
and at night before sleep . Simple to get better recovery .

Still doubts welcome always .
We are happy to help you .
