What Causes A Lump On The Side Of Forehead?

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Apr 2015
Question: Hello I have an "internal lump" on the side of my forehead and I´ve already visited a doctor and he diagnosed as a "tallow"... I would like a further examination as the doctor a visited was a general medicine doctor. What would be the appropriate doctor? which specialist? Should I worry about this lump? Its hard and it moves around if I touch it and it does not hurt !
Thanks very much,
Doug

Brief Answer:
Dermoid or sebaceous cyst, please upload a photograph

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I had gone through your question diligently and I can understand your concern very well

Looking at your history this lump could be a dermoid cyst or a sebaceous cyst and rarely a lipoma(tallow)

If you can upload me a photograph which you can very easily by clicking on upload a image on your right side of the computer screen, I will be able to guide you better

I would like to know
since how long it has been there?
Size of the lump
does its size increase with time?

You need not to worry at all if it's not bothering you much than it can be left untreated with keeping a close watch on any change in its size shape or discharge
symptomatic lump can be removed surgically as an out patient procedures

I hope you will fine my response relevant to your query and informative
follow up questions are most welcome
waiting for your reply
best wishes

Hello Dr. Hudda,

Thanks for your reply. Is a small 2-3cm size that its been here for the last 2-3 years. It used to be really small, almost imperceptible.. but it has grown to its 2-3cm size underneath the skin. The doctor I visited in Portugal also told me it was a sebaceous cyst and it could be easily removed with a quick surgery but as we hear so many bad stories about careless people that didn't remove a cyst and it became huge problems I decided to have a good look at this.
The picture can´t really show much as it is under the skin.
Thank you for your time. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Sebaceous cyst, most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
you are right, picture is not that much convincing

Looking at your history and progressive increase in its size, most likely this could be a sebaceous cyst only
It develops due to collection of its secretion underneath the skin, it's better to remove as it is increasing in size and may get infected with time.

I will assure you that it's a very simple surgery, you can remove it, if you wish to.otherwise its ok.

Hope this answers your question
thanks for using our services
best wishes
