What Causes A Small Bump Inside The Right Bicep Of A Teenager?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: My 16 year old son just told me about a small marble size bump on his inside right bicep. He lifts weights daily for football and is very lean. The bump is not hurting and he noticed it several days ago. Said he thinks it's a little bigger than when he first noticed.

Brief Answer:
Cytology would be confirmatory

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Image.
I can see a skin colored, round to oval, smooth surfaced, marble sized swelling on upper inner arm.
The fact that it is asymptomatic I would keep a possibility of either a Lipoma Or a Sebaceous cyst and I would suggest a FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) for a confirmatory diagnosis. Treatment for a possible lipoma or a sebaceous cyst would be surgical removal.

Regards
