What Causes A Small Lump On The Labia Minora?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Dec 2016
Question: About 6 weeks ago I got a little bump on my labia, just next to my right lip. It was a small firm bump that then grew and remained very firm. It grew to around a cm Id say and was raised around 4mm. A few days in I started to apply tea tree oil. In about a week I was able to squeeze it and some white watery serum came out of it until it was completely deflated. It went down and then continued to build up this same serum every few days and i would squeeze it out. It was totally painless and sometimes the serum would actually burst out like urine when I squeezed it. This happened over a couple of weeks and then now I can hardly see where it was but squeezed it again after a couple of weeks and yesterday could excrete a bit more serum. Do you think this is syphilus?? Im freaking out!
The bump was clean, smooth texture and pretty much the same colour as my labia, maybe a little redder but if so, not very noticeable. The secretion had a slight smell upon squeezing it but nothing crazy. Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Bartholin cysts explained below...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I read your message and understand your medical issue.

It seems that you have a Bartholin cyst. This kind of cyst develops on the lower part of the labia minora and grows fast.

The Bartholin cyst is developed when the Bartholin glands get obstructed and do not drainage the lubrification fluid they produce. This causes the fluid to be accumulated in the gland and forms the cyst.

When the cyst becomes infected a collection of pus happens and when you drain it you notice special smell and color. An abscess is formed and local discomfort becomes evident because of the inflammation of the tissues.

Syphilis causes warts, not lumps that you can drainage. The drainage is very important to be done in your case.

Use warm baths several times a day to help the cyst become more isolated and drained. If the cyst formation reoccurred a marsupialization procedure is done by a doctor for preventing re-occurrence and for permanent drainage.

You maybe need antibiotics but usually ,they are not necessary just keep proper hygiene.

Hope this is helpful for you. Let me know if you have further queries.

Thankyou for your answer. It is not in the correct position for a Batholin cyst.

The bump was between the Labia Majora and labia minora so on the side of the inner lip close to the pubic hair rather than the vaginal opening. Does that make sense? So if I grab my lips and move them to one side, its there on the inner flat red surface.

With a syphilus chancre, does it exude serum and if so, would it keep reoccurring after being squeezed? I can only see really awful pics on the internet so its hard to tell.

It cant be seen anymore, just maybe a small circular shape when the skins pulled a little from where it used to be.

Have you had much experience with Syphilis? And do you think this sounds like it? Im thinking the main thing here is that it continues to build up serum that can be excreted with ease. It drains and comes back again. Is this something that ever happens with a chancre? Or once they drain, they usually stay drained and open??

Just imagine grabbing the lips of the vagina, pulling them to the left side and the bump is there just to the side of the right lip.

Brief Answer:
Seems more Bartholin's cyst than chancre...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Again, I am still thinking of Bartholin's cyst, does not sound as syphilis.

Syphilis chancre is a painless ulceration; while chancroid is filled with pus and then finish up as chancre (ulceration).

I repeat, it's Bartholin's cyst from your description.
