What Causes Abdominal Distension And Yellowish Patches On The Abdomen?

To get the diagnosis at the earliest as discussed below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read your history carefully, seen the picture and understood your concerns.
My thoughts:
Since the problem is there for a year of swollen stomach, bright yellow patches all over, swollen and bruised ankles the possibility goes in favor of the following:
- There can be a generalized reason like anemia, hypoproteinemia, renal or cardiac cause or a local problem of abdominal wall and ankles only.
Hence the work up has to be as follows:
- Test of blood for CBC, Serum proteins and liver function tests, Thyroid function tests, kidney function tests.
- Clinical evaluation by a Doctor, detailed examination to decide whether this is a part of ana sarca meaning edema of the whole body or a local problems of the ankles and abdominal wall only.
- Further tests which may need a repeat are:
- MRI and/or high resolution ultrasound and color doppler for the abdominal wall in particular and of the whole abdomen.May help find if there is any local cause.
- Stool tests should done on 3 consecutive days and medicines can be taken on empirical basis for the intestinal worms.
Please get all the things just discussed done to get a primary diagnosis and thence get a referral for the Specialist to get a final diagnosis and a proper treatment till you are alright.
I hope this answer helps you to get an early and proper diagnosis and proper curative treatment, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Discussed all the points as per your history.
I hope you have read the answer in details.
Since you are feeling the entire body swollen, the tests to be done are given above to find the cause.
The causes can be:
- Low hemoglobin - anemia
- Low blood/serum proteins - Hypoproteinemia
- Renal means related to the kidney disease.
- Cardiac means related to the heart ailments.
- Low thyroid means hypothyroidism.
All the tests related to these diseases need to be done to find out the cause and get treated.
