What Causes Abdominal Pain After Eating Post Gall Bladder Removal?
Question: My wife had her gallbladder taken out 3 years ago. Ever since then she has had bad abdominal pain especially after eating. She normally goes to the restroom right after. She has very bad nausea also. We have been to surgeons and gastroenterologists. They have run every test for ibd's. And no positive diagnosis at all. They just tell her she has ibs( aka. They just don't know what it is). In the last 6 months she has gotten off her birth control because of side effects and her symptoms have gotten much worse so we thought it might be female related. Her ob gyn thought she might have endometriosis so he did a laparoscopic exploratory but only found a small ovarian cyst. She eats maybe one meal every two days because the pain and nausea is bad. Any help would be appreciated.

- choledochial sludge, microcalculi, dyskinesia.
At this point, I highly recommend to run ERCP test to see intrahepatic biliar pathways in order to determine the right diagnosis.
Next, another cause could be psychological effect especially if she has suffered prior to surgery.
However, it is important to evaluate the intrahepatic biliar pathways first through ERCP, then, to confirm pscychological effect.

I dont think she has had that test. At this point were financially drained. I thought maybe the timing of the surgery was just coincidental. Her symptoms at first were typical for the surgery but got progressively worse. We are at a point now that we need some kind of answers without more tests procedures and financially draining options. I just dont understand after going to a surgeon a gastroenterologist and her ob gyn why we dont have some kond of answer other than ibs. All that means is she has a set of symptoms doctors dont know how to treat so lets just try a bunch of different kinds of meds and diets while we charge the hell out of you. We have done all this to no avail. Maybe this is my desperation talking. But there has to be something that has caused a seemingly healthy 27 year old woman after gallbladder surgery to have these problems
