Brief Answer:
Add more roughage and enough liquids in your diet.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef, a
general surgeon answering your query.
A few more information would have been more helpful like if you eat frequently from outside specially fast food and if you got any gynaecological symptoms like any discharge/bleeding per vagina and if any urinary symptoms (apart from the previous UTI) are there at present.
If all of the above is negative, then I as your treating doctor would have advised you for a simple
stool test for ova and
cyst along with a repeat urine test, and would have advised you some deworming medicines and a course of anti amebic drugs depending on the report. Many times
amebiasis is under reported as no ameba is seen in routine stool test. However, not infrequently such symptoms vanish after a course of anti amebic drugs. Along with it I would also add a
proton pump inhibitor and a pre/
probiotic.
I would possibly advise you for a second
colonoscopy due to your past history of a colonic polyp removed in November.
Usually I won't prescribe my patients with frequent dose of laxatives unless it is too bad. Instead, I would advise them to add more of roughage in their diet with enough liquids, and go for a regular routine exercises like a walk/jogging depending on their medical fitness.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
