What Causes Abdominal Pain And Bloating After A Liver Biopsy?
Question: My wife had a liver biopsy 10 days ago. 3-4 days after the biopsy she experienced abdominal bloating and has been uncomfortably living with it for the past week. No pain other than the pressure caused by abdomen being swollen, but discomfort. Should we be going to the emergency room?
Brief Answer:
Yes, should be taken to the Emergency room.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank for your query.
Noted the history of liver biopsy followed by abdominal bloating, causing pressure and discomfort.
Yes, you should go to Emergency Room.
The reasons:
This is not the sequel of liver biopsy.
This can be due to bleeding from the puncture wound inside causing intestinal problems and should be investigated to see the reasons and get appropriate treatment in time.
The causes should be found out.
Please give additional information:
Is there any nausea, vomiting?
Constipation or change in bowel habits?
Any referred pain in the back or so?
Yes, should be taken to the Emergency room.
