What Causes Abdominal Pain And Discomfort Radiating Down The Legs?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Apr 2017
Question: I have pain in my lower right abdomen, with a pretty significant sized bulge when standing or straining (bigger than a golf ball). I have discomfort, sometimes pain, that radiates to the right side and down my leg. I went to urgent care and they did a CT with contrast, which showed no hernia. I have had laproscopic surgery three times in the past, twice for ovarian cysts and once in 2015 when I donated a kidney. Could this be a hernia that was just missed on the CT?

Brief Answer:
It is a hernia for sure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Actually this is a hernia for sure. CT is not a good diagnostic tool for hernia, because, you are lying during the test. And as you have noticed, hernia is visible when standing and can disappear when lying down.
I suggest you to have an ultrasound done (in standing position). I am pretty sure, it will confirm the hernia.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
