What Causes Abnormal Bowel Movement During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 May 2014
Question: I'm 35 weeks pregnant and I'm occasionally pooping out medium size chunks of tissue. This has been going on for at least a month now. I have been taking laxatives from the beginning of my pregnancy. My OBGYN does not know what it is. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Microscopic examination of stool

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Some amount of constipation is common in pregnancy due to hormonal effect.
This can lead to passage of blood sometimes.
Intake of iron supplements can alter the color of the stools.
But passing tissue is somewhat abnormal, so better to get examined.
Consult gynecologist once and undergo stool microscopy examination.
By this the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treated.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be available to answer to follow up questions. If you are satisfied with the answer, please give your review at the end of the discussion.
Take care.
