What Causes Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding While On Nexplanon?

Question: I am a 22 year old female with nexplanon implanted into my arm for almost 2 years. with this birth control I have never experienced Any spotting, bleeding,cramping, nothing. yesterday I noticed a little bit of spotting and then cramping last night. this morning I woke up with more vaginal bleeding. is this normal?

Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,
Erratic bleeding is known to occur when on contraceptive implants like nexplanon. Though you had no bleeding for 2 years, it is possible that you can have bleeding now.
This does not indicate that the implant is not effective.
Nexplanon is very effective for three years and you do not need to worry about its contraceptive efficacy being affected by this bleeding.
Bleeding should stop on its own, if it doesn't stop in 5 days you could consider tab.tranexamic acid.
