What Causes Abnormal Writing Pattern In A Child?

Question: Hello Dr.
I am XXXX. My 7-year old son has some problems when he writes. He used to write 4 as face other side. He writes “F” in reverse. “K” in reverse. He used to wear pair of slippers in wrong leg and did not recognize. He can not pronounce “R” in place of “R” he pronounce “L”. Other hand his memory is very sharp. He is very intelligent and always speaks any thing very logical.

Please guide me.

The problems with your son are not serious, though abnormal can be seen in many kids of his age. This is a kind of cerebellar delay in development. He will recover from this very soon with mild effort from you and his teachers. Use rewarding technique in his learning.

Since his memory and logical reasoning is fine I do not suspect any dyspraxia or dyslexia.
