What Causes Absence Of Periods After Stopping Micronor?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Jul 2014
Question: Hi,

I stopped taking micronor after taking it for approximately 2 years. It was difficult for me to take it regularly, sometimes missing it for days then taking them all at once to "catch up". I've decided to stop taking it altogether.
It's been almost one month since I took the last pill and still no period. I'm worried that I've thoroughly messed up my fertility. How long does it usually take until I will get my period again? And is there a possibility that I have messed up my cycle and fertility altogether?

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear!
Dont worry because your fertility isnt messed up but your periods will return soon .

Micronor is a progesterone and it prevents the cervical mucus changes around the time of ovulation so that sperm cannot get through to the egg thus preventing fertilisation. The lining of the womb (endometrium) is affected so that.
In this way using micronor do not interfere with your fertility.

Return of fertility vary from person to person.

Because you were unprotected during this month ,pregnancy should be excluded by a pregnancy test.

If you are in TTC please take folic acid 400 mikrog per day.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I'm just a little concerned because while taking micronor, my periods stopped completely. With some brown spotting on maybe 1 or 2 occasions. Also, I've had a negative Bhcg test to rule out pregnancy. I've been having breast tenderness for a couple weeks however, and some pelvic pain that resolved after a few days. Is there any concern to this? I'm due to get an IUD inserted in 2 weeks and I was thinking I want to wait until I see at least one period. But some people are telling me this might take months!

Brief Answer:
Dont wait.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again!
Yes it might take months for breakthrough of your periods.
As I sad above return of periods vary from person to person.

Spotting or missing periods are side effect by use of micronor, not sign of being infertile.

Expect to breakthrough your periods you dont solve any problem.
Insert IUD after 2 weeks ,as prescribed from your doctor.

Take care and dont worry
