What Causes Acute Muscle Pain Around The Shoulders And Neck?

Leading up to this:
Severe headache (just above the neck at the back of the head) - other random aches and pains in back, leg
Blood test showed D-dimer count of 2500 (range 0-250) otherwise bloods OK
Concern the this could lead to DVT (there was pain in the left leg)
Ultra sound scan completed, confirmed that no DVT present
Told that the high D-dimer count was 'not relevant'
Expect that it is a viral condition
What type of viral condition can cause the intense pain now experienced? Is there any treatment apart from
pain killers and anti-inflamatories?
Due to viral infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Since DVT has been ruled out there is no need to worry now. A generalized viral infection can cause the muscle pain and headache like you have described. Even a simple flu can cause this.
In addition to the pain killers that you are taking you can get a muscle relaxant prescribed from your physician for an earlier relief. Taking Vitamin C supplements and out of door exercise will add to your immunity and will help in early recovery.
I hope this answers your query.
