Brief Answer:
Unlikely that your 2 symptoms have the same basis

Detailed Answer:
Good evening. I understand you're having ankle pain and lightheadedness and trouble balancing while walking. You're also complaining of 5 months of either continuous or frequent headaches though you haven't described the nature of the headaches (i.e. migraine vs. tension type or something else?).

Since you've not specified the type of blood tests obtained I'm going to have to guess and say that your doctors probably were checking you for some type of possible infection, the presence of gout, or some form of inflammatory disease that could result in joint pain, lightheadedness, and headaches on the order of a form of vasculitis, Lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis. I would say that if you check the lab results that were obtained and find that some or all of the tests I've mentioned have not shown up then, I think it's possible that you could ask the doctor to run these tests to see what comes about just so we can say that we've truly run the gamut of tests and chemistries possible for these symptoms to be somehow related.

Another approach to discovering what if any relationship your symptoms could have to each other would be enrolling in either a physical therapy or vestibulotherapy (balance therapy) program and have your therapist work with you specifically on balance and stability of the affected ankle as well as your stability on your feet with regard to balancing, walking, and turning.

If after several weeks of therapy things seem to be getting better then, even if the cause remains unknown the fact is you will know that certain symptoms are related to certain others in your particular case. I would also consider performing an MRI of the brain and an MRA since their sensitivity and resolution of relevant lesions in the brain is overall 10x more accurate than CT scan.

As far as the constant headache is concerned I would recommend obtaining a headache diary and searching down a neurologist who is also a headache specialist. They may have you keep a diary or log and review it each time you come back to try and determine what type of headaches you could be having that is 5 months in the making. My guess is that your headaches are those of TENSION TYPE and that they are likely daily which means they are chronic. The specialist will determine after reviewing your case thoroughly that the appropriate medication or intervention is available for you to take advantage.

I hope this addresses your concerns and that you'll keep me in mind for future questions regarding these or other neurological/medical issues. Feel free to upload more specific information regarding lab tests and diagnostic studies if done and I'll be happy to look at them in the context of your question.

Otherwise, I'd appreciate your rating this interaction with a HIGH STAR SCORE and look forward to a few words of feedback. In addition, I'd appreciate your CLOSING THIS QUERY if you're satisfied with my response.

Write to me any time at: bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi for additional comments, concerns, or to provide status updates if you'd like which I would love to receive from you to see just what has been discovered.

Cheers!
