Question: I have chroni neck and back pain . 2old fusion from 2003. I went out of town to live but kept my relationship with his assistant. I was taking XXXXXXX and gabapentin for years and I was doing really well I moved to Florida and am looking for a dr to take his place. In the meantime I had a. Bone spur remove at level c4 1/27/14 continued to do well. My primary care down here sent me to a pain clinic down here, so I did he took away mt XXXXXXX and increased my gabapentin and put me on baklefen and fentenyl patch I'm in a lot of pain I feel awful I'm up all night. Can you think of a good depression and chronic pain pill all in one anxiety to I don't eat or sleep. Is there something othe then backlofen 60mg where do I go next this nerve pain is scaring me.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern. Chronic pain is very hard to treat and is often hard to find the right combination of drugs.

Given your long term use of XXXXXXX it is well possible that your worsening and anxiety is more due to the withdrawal effects. It does produce physical and psychological dependence with long term use and may lead to anxiety, depression and insomnia when interrupted. For that reason it is not generally used for long periods.

Regarding your question on something to address depression, anxiety and pain the answer would be antidepressants. Some antidepressants such as duloxetin, venlafaxin or amitriptylin are first line treatments for chronic and neuropathic pain as well as anxiety and depression. So you can discuss their use alongside gabapentin with your doctor.
