Brief Answer:
Practical points on osteoarthritis and sciatica that can help you.

Detailed Answer:
Dear User,

I'm Dr. Neel Kudchadkar, and I'll help you out here.

Arthritis in the lower back, or Lumbo-Sacral junction is also called as osteoarthritis. This happens due to familial predisposition, habits of posture at work for extended amounts of time. Arthritis of the lower back can also occur due to an injury. The fact of the matter is that this is often associated with sciatica. There is a nerve called as the sciatic nerve that passes from the hip to innervate the leg. This is often put under pressure due to orthopedic issues and causes pain to radiate from the bottom to the leg. The best way of handling such issues is that they (particularly sciatica) go away by themselves. There are some medications that can be taken for the pain. The best are Advil (Ibuprofen) and Naproxen. Arthritis of the lower back can cause disruptions in a persons life and might dishearten the person. There are remedies for this. There is a technology called as "tens" - Trans Cutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. This can help in your condition.

Brief Answer:
I suggest this.

Detailed Answer:
Dear long,

Any activity that requires maintenance of a single stressful posture for long periods. It's that simple. But I strongly feel that one should not fear activity.
It's exactly this that causes OA/Sciatica patients to feel compromised.
Avoid it. Within bounds of reason, one should keep active.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
