What Causes Black Discoloration In Toes In A Person With Type 2 Diabetes?

Question: My wife has type 2 diabetes. She woke up this morning and noticed one of her toes turned black and we need to know how to sewe a doctor quickly or can she wait for three weeks to see a doctor?
Brief Answer:
Black toe
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You are concerned about your wife having a black toe. Now is it the entire toe that is black? If it is then you need to be seen in the emergency room as this maybe a vascular problem and she may need to help with returning the flow to her toe. If the blackness is only associated with the nail then she has a bruise just under the nail bed. This is not emergent and does not need to be seen. Spontaneous bruising is normal for the great toenail especially is she is taking aspirin daily.
