What Causes Bleeding While Passing Stool?
Question: I had a colonoscopy yesterday. I am a32 yo healthy female. My only concurrent health issues are anxiety secondary to a condition with my daughter. I take Wellbutrin, Prozac, Xanax, and Prilosec. For two months, I have had bleeding dark and bright red blood with stools. A 40 mm polyploid lesion 1-5 cm proximal to the anus. A biopsy was taken but early indicators were though to be benign. I don't have insurance. Any thoughts?
Brief Answer:
Upper endoscopy necessary,,,,
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. I am glad to know that the polyp was benign.
Bleeding you are experiencing might be related to fissures and/or polyps.
The dark bleeding is because of problems of upper GI tract (stomach, small intestines). Upper endoscopy is necessary for proper diagnosis; while a complete blood work is necessary to evaluate anemia.
