What Causes Bloating And Abdominal Pain After An Upper Endoscopy?

Question: Hello - I had an upper endoscopy on Monday at 4:00pm. Felt fine the first 24 hours after. Then after eating a spinach salad with some steak on top last night - about 26 hours after the procedure I became very bloated. All last night I had abdominal pain during my sleep. Still bloated but the abdomen is not hard. Is this normal?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
The bloating you have 24 hours after the procedure is no way related to the endoscopy procedure. It may be due to spinach with steak you had.
Good thing is that the abdomen is not hard.
If the symptoms persists, you can take omeprazole with reglan for relief.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
