What Causes Blood In Stool After A Colonoscopy?

Bloody stools
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing bloody stools. If the stools are bright red blood then the cause is usually an internal hemorrhoid or a rectal tear. So if you have any trouble passing stools where you have stools are hard or large caliber then this is the most common reason for rectal bleeding. You should still see your medical provider to examine your rectal area to confirm this diagnosis. It is unlikely that the polyps would continue to bleed this far out from your procedure. I recommend also that you use fiber laxatives to help make your stools softer and easier to pass.

Medications
Detailed Answer:
It is possible that the metformin and the omeprazole can cause diarrhea. This diarrhea then is irritating to the colon lining and causing bleeding. I would recommend holding both medications for 1-2 days to see if that changes your bowel movements and the bleeding stops. Also if you are taking aspirin you may want to stop it. Aspirin is a blood thinner and will contribute to the bleeding
