Brief Answer:
Could be dysentery. Needs to be treated with antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. There are two broad factors to consider in case of blood with stool and that involves the consistency of stool. Bleeding could be associated with constipation or could be associated with loose stools. Please elaborate on your child's condition and mention about the consistency of his stool. In case of dysentery or bloody stool, treatment with antibiotics is likely to be needed. It is advisable to get his stool tested (routine microscopy). You can upload the reports thereafter. If there is constipation you would need to take plenty of fibers. I would await your response. Based on that I would guide you further.

Let me know if I could help further.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic needs to be given for 5 to 7 days.

Antibiotic like ofloxacin needs to be given for 5 to 7 days. The loose stools may take 3-5 days to stop. You would need to be patient and give ORS in the meantime.

Brief Answer:
Clinical evaluation needed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update. Clinical examination is very important in this case. If the abdomen is soft and non-tender, it is unlikely to be due to intussusception. But if the abdomen is tender and rigid, you would need to see a doctor and get him evaluated further.
