Brief Answer:
immediate medical assessment is required

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

unilateral color changes with pain indicate acute arterial occlusion and immediate medical intervention is required. Does he feel pain? The extremity usually starts with pallor and continues with bluish discoloration. Pain is expected.

Other less urgent causes may apply like trauma, impaired vascular flow due to vasospasm, cryoglobulinemia, etc.

In any case immediate medical assessment is required to clarify this issue.

Kind Regards!
