What Causes Body Pains Along With Shivering And Cough?

Question: Hi Dr my sister is 16 yrs old, she is complaining of pain in her body and also some kind of shivering, she is not having fever, have some cough, Can you please suggest some medicine which i can give her till i visit dr XXXXXXX

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

It seems that your sister is having body ache, feverish feeling, cough due to some infection, presumably viral infection of upper respiratory tract (URTI).

Pending further evaluation by your doctor, as symptomatic measure she can take paracetamol 500 mg orally three times a day and syrup Bromhexine HCL 1 teaspoonful three times a day.

Thanks for the reply dr, as you have mentioned that she might be suffering from URTI, I want to know the diagnosis, which all tests should be done, how can it be cured, my sister always faces the above problem, she always stays away from any food which could get her I'll, when she ocassionally takes it then she suffers from cold and throat pain, this is happening from a quite long time we that it just might be a viral infection but she is actually having some other problem, So Dr if you can just tell us how should we move further with the diagnosis and whom to consult, thanks

As first-line investigation you can get her complete blood count done. If she is prone repeated infection,I would suggest serum immunoglobulin profile (IgM,IgG & IgA) in addition.Please consult a general physician first. Let me know investigation reports.
