What Causes Bowel Incontinence, Bloating And Excessive Gas While On Citalopram?

Question: I have taken Cytalopram 40 mg for many years for my arthritis, but decided to stop cold turkey a month ago instead of tapering off. A few weeks ago I starting having bowel incontinence lasting over a week. I now just have bloating, gas and an irritable bowel. I haven't see a doctor yet, but could these symptoms be from stopping the Cytalopram?

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows :
1. You are reporting to have symptoms like bowel incontinence ,bloating and gas.
These symptom are not common for cytalopram withdrawn.
2. These symptoms mostly are related with
- IBS
- acute gastroenteritis
- dyspepsia syndrome
3. If I were your treating doctor I would suggest to use :
- plenty of water
- probiotics
- antispasmodic drugs like dyclocimin
