What Causes Bradycarida During Sleep?

Question: etails+ Update Reports

I had all cardiac testing done 2 months ago. Everything came back structurally normal with my heart. I have pacs and rare pvcs according to my holter monitor. I passed my stress test. My holter was always in sinus rythm. Something that worries me is the fact that my resting heart rate sometimes goes to 55 bpm. My cardiologist says there is no heart block and no SSS. He says my heart is normal and I am healthy. This scares me. Is this normal? During sleep my bpm went down to 41. My 48 hour holter said 26 % of the time in bradycardia and 13 % tachycardia. My cardiologist says this is all normal. Is this a common finding?
Also this morning when I woke up I had a lot of etopic beats for over an hour and alternating between slight bradycardia and some faster beats. My cardiologist says everything is from anxiety and some acid reflux but I woke up calm

Brief Answer:
Nothing serious

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

I would like to repeat, that there is nothing abnormal with your heart.
During sleep our organism need minimal energy, so it is normal to have bradycardia, even 41 bpm is not abnormal for sleep, as it can't cause any harm. During sick sinus syndrome, there is no adequate increase in heart rate during exercise. You have normal stress test which rules out sick sinus syndrome.
As I have written earlier some amount of ectopic beats can be seen in almost every healthy adults. It is not abnormal. Some people can feel it and some people not. The amount of ectopic beats can increase episodically depending on stress, caffeine or alcohol use, weather changes etc. It is not abnormal. In the morning there many changes in organism, episodical increased amount of ectopic beats are not significant.
My only advise to you will be; stop worrying and enjoy the life.

Wishing you good health

Doctor Thank you for your response. I think I have a better understanding now. Is it normal however for the heart beat to feel so erratic however in the morning. The pulse is very inconsistent. Fast slow and not evenly spaced out. Is this still etopic beats or something else?

Brief Answer:
Welcome back

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Most probably it was due to ectopic beats. Try to remember whether you had some caffein, alcohol or stress during the previous day.
I would like to mention, that when you worry so much, it can also be a trigger for ectopic beats. Try to relax and they will start to disturb you less.

Hi Doctor Thank you for your response. I appreciate your time. I sometimes don't feel the etopic. It is when I check my pulse I will notice the erratic heart beats. My cardiologist assures me the etopic beats are benign and the majority of mine are Pacs. He tells me that no medication is needed for thses
