Question: I believe I got jandice about 3 years ago, now getting out of denial that I'm alcoholic. Wondering how many years do you typically have to live after jandice. If you have a liver in late stages of cirrohis and you are on your death bed do chemicals from the liver go into the brain making you hallucinate?

Brief Answer:
Mental symptoms can be caused by hepatic encephalopathy

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Whether the doctor had diagnosed jaundice 3 year back.?
Jaundice is a symptom, what diagnosis was made last time, life expectancy post jaundice depends on how severe the liver cells were affected ( fatty liver better prognosis, cirrhosis bad prognosis).
Are you alcoholic?.

Hepatic encephalopathy is the occurrence of confusion, altered level of consciousness, and coma as a result of liver failure. some symptoms include Change in sleep patterns, Changes in thinking, Confusion that is mild Forgetfulness,Mental fogginess,Personality or mood changes Poor concentration,Poor judgment.

It is caused by accumulation in the bloodstream of toxic substances that are normally removed by the liver. The diagnosis of hepatic encephalopathy requires the presence of impaired liver function.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
