What Causes Breast Tenderness And Swelling On Hands And Feet?

default
Posted on Sat, 12 Jul 2014
Question: Yes I'm 52 and will 53 in March and I'm not on any hormones and I'm still having regular period up until May. I missed that month then started on XXXXXXX 5 th for 5 days. The day after my period stopped my breasts started to get tender and swell up also my hands and feet. I'm wondering if it's normal to still be having periods at 52 and half years old. Also why did my breasts, hands and ankles start swelling again after finishing my period on the 8th of XXXXXXX and today I'm stick that way on XXXXXXX 22. Do you think I'm finally going to go through menopause finally?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
THanks for writing to us with your health concern.
The range of menopause varies from person to person, and to a great extent, it is determined genetically.
There is no magic figure to say when it is ' normal ' to stop menstruating.
The symptoms that you describe tally with those of peri menopause.
You can easily confirm this.
Please get the following tests done - FSH, LH, Serum estradiol.
This will tell you where you are placed as far as menopause is concerned.
All the best
