What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge During Menstruation?
Question: Sorry for TMI. I am getting a brown discharge (very little) after my period. Is it a matter of concern?

Brown discharge usually denotes stale old blood or decaying tissue. Decaying tissue is usually foul smelling. The very fact that you have not mentioned about it, it must not be with foul smelling.
During menstruation, the lining of the uterus is thrown out of the uterus with some blood. Most of the blood that is expelled is seen by naked eyes as red blood mixed with some tissue flakes. Sometimes, after 4-5 days, though the bleeding appears to have stopped, some minor trickle continues inside the uterine cavity which remains there due to small amount. It comes out after a couple of days. During this time, it becomes old blood attaining brown colour.
So long as there is no foul smell and the amount is very scanty, there is no reason for any concern.
