What Causes Burning In Mouth And Throat After Drinking Unrefrigerated Coconut Milk?

Question: I opened a new, unrefrigerated box of coconut milk and took a swallow. I noticed imediate burning in my mouth and throat. I then noticed a light pink tinge to the rest of the milk in my glass. The box was damaged near the spout and may even have come partially loose. I rinsed my mouth with water and gargled. I rinsed my nose with saline. Meanwhile, my husband poured out the box of milk and there were congealed blobs in the bottom and a long, slimy string of pink with some black patches in the bottom. Is there a risk of toxins in that mold which is now in my system. There was no odor in the milk? What do you suggest I do?
Brief Answer:
Need not worry much.
Detailed Answer:
Hi madam, welcome to HCM forum.
As you have taken only a single sip, chance of any intoxication is very less and you need not worry much.
Just watch for symptoms like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bowel disturbance, fever etc. for 24-48 hours. If anything happens, kindly see your doctor for management. Otherwise just forget that and be careful to avoid future mishaps.
Hope this will answer your query.
