What Causes Burning Sensation During Urination?
Before it was 3-4 times a days morning to night but after contacting Gynologist its only 1 time in late evening.
Dr. was prescribed cefixime 200 twice daily, alprazolam 0.25mg twice daily,ofloxacin-ornidazole-terbinafine hydrochloride & clobetasol propionate cream, V-Wash, candiforce-100(Itraconazole capsules).
it was been 25 days now alprazolam 0.25mg once night daily and clotrimazole-beclomethasone & neomycin cream is going on.
But one time daily burning irritation is still there.
Even after taking medicine my wife feels sad, cry and headache without any reason.
GET URINE EXAM , SEE A PSYCHOLOGIST.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
There are two separate issues here.
The burning urination - please get a complete urine examination ( routine microscopy ) and urine culture examination.
THat will identify the particular organism causing urinary tract infection, and treatment can be accordingly tailored.
Blindly taking antibiotics can worsen the condition.
ALso make sure she drinks lots of water and fluids, and keeps private areas clean.
Avoid sex till infection subsides, or have protected sex.
Do not use soaps, gels, cleansers, douches for cleaning private parts, just plain lukewarm water.
The second issue is of moodiness, crying, headache etc.
This points to a psychological component, probably anxiety depression.
She needs to see a psychologist and have behavioural therapy and counselling.
Ask her to workout and exercise daily, that will also help.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Thank you for reply.
I have attached the reports that you requested.
Please see the attached report and advice.
About anxiety issue Dr. has reduced the dose of alprazolam to 0.25mg every alternate day and now she feeling much better and no more feeling to cry.
CHANGE THE DRUG TO NORFLOX. STOP CEFIXIME
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr. XXXXXXX
As you can see from the reports, your wife has UTI ( urinary tract infection ) and in the culture report, it is clearly seen that it is resistant to Cefixime.
So it has been incorrectly prescribed by your doctor.
According to me, she should be given Norfloxacin to which the infection is sensitive.
So please contact your doctor and get a new, correct prescription without which the UTI will not heal.
Take care.
Hope I managed to help you.
My wife is feels burning sensation for the 5 minutes after urination for 5-8 minutes every late evening.
Before it was 3 to 4 times a day even morning or night but after contacting a Gynologist burning sensation after urination has been decreased once every late evening late evening.
two months ago in urine culture it was "klebsiella pneumoniae" bacteria and Dr. given atibiotics but burning sensation after urination was still there. After three appoitment we changed the Doctor.
New Doctor also given given some medicine and burning sensation after urination dropped to once a day but not going on.
Dr. said to urine culture and it shows E-coli and Dr. prescribed "norfloxacin lactic acid bacillus tablets" and some medicines (Presbrition attached Dr.Alka_22-10-2014__14.pdf)
Nine days after medicines we did urine culture again and again its shows "E-coli" and now with resistant to norfloxacin.
:: Please read all case history and report carefully as attached and prescribe or advice something::
AMIKACIN IS BEST NOW
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through the reports again.
This time the infection is resistant to Norflox also.
It is best to give Amikacin this time.
It is given intramuscular ( injection ) twice a day for a week atleast.
Please go for that, it is the best treatment for UTI.
However, please also go for an ultrasound KUB ( kidney ureter bladder ) to see if there are any stones or any anatomical abnormality that is causing recurrent UTI.
Take care.
She also shaking very little bit while sleeping for 1-2 times.
AMIKACIN SHOULD CURE IT
Detailed Answer:
Full course of Amikacin should cure it in all probability.
Regarding the shaking, you should consult a psychiatrist as I earlier suggested.
Now I got the UTI too, is UTI a sexually transmitted disease?
Might be i had UTI before without symptoms, it could be reason of my wife's recurring UTI?
AS EXPLAINED
Detailed Answer:
All UTIs are not sexually transmitted, but certain type of infections which cause UTI can be sexually transmitted.
That is why I wrote in my initial answer itself - ' Avoid sex till infection completely subsides , or have protected sex . '
Till infection in both partners is completely resolved, please use protection.
Take care.
Today we vistied the Dr. and she prescribed following medicines.
1- Levofloxacin 500Mg Tablet (Daily Morning for 10 days)
2- Amikacin 250Mg/2ml Injection (Twice Daily for 5 days)
3- Himalaya Cystone tablets (Twice daily for 15+ days)
4- Utrin Syrup (5Ml twice daily with water for 15+ days)
Q1: Is these medicine ok and enough to cure the injection ?
Q2: How and where to inject amikacin ? (I forgot to ask Dr. and I need to tell this to nurse)
INTRA MUSCULARLY
Detailed Answer:
Hello
YEs, the treatment is correct and should be enough to cure the UTI.
YOu should have an ultrasound of the KUB ( Kidney Ureter Bladder ) region also.
Amikacin can be given in the arms of hips anywhere , but in the muscles, not in the veins.
Take care.
90 days ago ultrasound of lower region was done and everything was normal.
Her Dr. said no need to ultrasound if it was done 2-3 months ago, is this ok? ?
Last utrasound says
U.Bladder- Normal shape & size.
UT= 78x42x38mm
ET=6.9mm
BIL=overy is normal
adeNIXEQ= clear no mass
cul-de-see= no fluid in POD
ULTRASOUND ABDOMEN SHOULD BE DONE, NOT PELVIS
Detailed Answer:
Yes amikacin can be taken in the buttocks.
Also, the ultrasound does not reveal details of the kidneys and ureters, only the pelvis.
Please request an ultrasound of the whole Abdomen , with special emphasis on the kidneys.
Take care.
