Brief Answer:
Burning mouth syndrome is very common in female around 50's.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I really appreciate your concern. I am Dr. Manan Patel answering your query.

Constant burning of mouth and lips without any visible cause is known as Burning mouth syndrome. It is very common in female near the age of menopause.

There are not known causes of the syndrome. But there are certain risk factors which may trigger the syndrome.

You haven't provided any additional symptoms or past medical history. So I would like to ask you certain things:
how long you are suffering from the symptoms,
whether it is associated with soreness in mouth or on lips, dryness of mouth, whether you are having any food allergies, reflux disease, nutritional deficiencies,
whether you are having any stress, anxiety or depression,
whether you are on any medication,
Any recent upper respiratory disease.

From your history cause can be found out and proper treatment and preventive measures can be advised. Kindly provide the same.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Avoid using mouth wash containing mint or other flavour.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

It seems like you are having reaction to mouth wash or toothpaste. Frequent use of mouth wash or toothpaste containing strong mint flavour could be the cause of burning mouth.

I advise you to try different mild or flavour-free brands of toothpaste, such as one for sensitive teeth or one without mint or cinnamon.
Additionally follow these instruction for a month to relieve symptoms:
Drink plenty of water.
Avoid carbonated drinks.
Avoid hot, spicy and acidic foods,
Avoid alcohol and tobacco if consuming.

These measures would certainly help you out.

If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you good health.
