What Causes Burning Sensation In Mouth And Red Spot Like Blister?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Apr 2015
Question: Hello! Last night I really burned my mouth by taking a bite out of hot food. It is a lot more painful than a normal mouth burn. I have tried to look at the roof of my mouth and noticed it is a white color(although I do not know what color it normally is) I also noticed that in the middle part of the roof of my mouth, I have a red spot that almost looks like a blister. Should I be more concerned than I would with just a regular burn?

Brief Answer:
mouth burns

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for consulting HCM.

I have read your query and came to the conclusion that it is a case of palate burn.

caused by eating very hot food.

Don't worry about the red spot or blister it will go away in a week.

For that period avoid eating hot food.
Avoid hard and crusty food.
stick to soft food and cool liquids.

Use a good antiseptic mouthwash thrice daily.
for pain use a topical anesthetic like Dentogel.

Hope this answer helps.
Take care
