Burning mouth syndrome most probably
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic...
I read the history and I understood your concern for burning in mouth after oral sex with your girlfriend.
You got tested for STD and HIV which are negative. So, there is no need to worry. Symptoms of HIV induced disease never occurs in short time after contracting HIV. So, there is no question of HIV. Burning in mouth is not the symptom of any STD except Herpes progenitalis. But, the signs you said are not the part of the herpes progenitalis infection. So, the anxiety - depression might be the cause of burning mouth syndrome.
Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. After thorough examination and investigations, he might come to some conclusion. Accordingly he might treat you.
I would suggest as below...
- The discomfort due to burning in mouth can be alleviated using a variety of medications, many of which are used to treat anxiety, depression, and other neurologic disorders although at lower doses. The medications help to reduce the activity of nerve fibers. These medications include clonazepam either as a mouth rinse or in dissolvable wafer or pill form. Others include amitriptyline, nortriptyline doxepin and gabapentin. These are prescription medications and can cause drowsiness and dry mouth so they are usually taken at night and may help you to sleep.
Over-the-counter medications such as alpha lipoic acid may be useful as well as topical capsaicin.
- As the disease is a chronic problem, non-pharmacologic approaches to management used alone or in addition to the above medications may be helpful. These include stress management/reduction, meditation, yoga, exercise, psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.. If stress, anxiety and/or depression are contributing to Burning mouth syndrome, regular use of these techniques or regular counseling may help to reduce symptoms and keep drug dosages low.
However please note that, with any therapy for Burning mouth syndrome, it may take several weeks or even months for the good result. So,please have patience during that period...
I hope this would help you.
Thanks.
