What Causes Burning Sensation On Tongue With A History Of Tinnitus?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: Hi ..I have had burning on the left side of my tongue for about 5 months now . It is pretty much isolated to one area. It ranges from feeling burnt ..numb and tingly and sometimes sore on the bottom. I have XXXXXXX in the bottom of my mouth that I had removed although the left side seems to not have had quite enough taken off and I notice I wake up with my tongue pressed to the side of my mouth. Could this be affecting my tongue and maybe hitting a nerve? I also have suffered long term from tinnitus and my hearing has been bad recently, so all those symptoms scare me into thinking of acoustic neuroma. Am I just being paranoid and playing Dr. via Google or could that be a valid possible condition considering the group of symptoms?

Brief Answer:
Burning on tongue not a common sign of tumors.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Tinnitus and hearing problems may have several causes that range from simple ones such ear wax, to more complicated ones related to hearing nerve damage or compression.

It is necessary to get evaluated by an ENT Doctor to diagnose properly the cause of the tinnitus and hearing problems.

Burning sensation on tongue is not a characteristic sign of acoustic neuroma, it could be related to nerve compression locally and XXXXXXX is a possibility.

So, in my opinion, you shouldn't worry much more than necessary about it.

Acoustic neuroma symptoms include balance issues, dizziness and facial numbness, besides gradual hearing loss and tinnitus.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
