What Causes Burning Urination And Swelling In Pelvic Region And Penis?

Question: I went to a GP yesterday complaining about burning pee and swollen pelvic region. After testing urine it was decided I was suffering due to kidney stones. Today though I have a red swelling on my penis shaft and continue with the other symptoms
Brief Answer:
An infection in addition
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query.
Burning of the urine can be due to urinary infection or a STD in addition to the kidney stones. The way to confirm a kidney stone is by doing an ultrasound examination of the kidneys. Did you notice any blood staining of urine? The red swelling on the penis is likely to be due to an infection. Do you have any fever or is there any discharge from the penis? Are there any pustule or ulcers on the penis?
If you can upload the result of your urine test and a picture of the red swelling, I shall comment on them.
Take Care

Hello,
Thank you for your swift response.
I am in China and not covered by insurance so the Dr I saw yesterday advised to skip the ultrasound. I had unprotected sex around 6 months ago and was worried about STD's so was tested twice afterwards both times clear.
There is no blood or staining to the urine but I thought i could see very small white flecks.
I have no fever or discharge, but I slight warm itching in my bladder and testicles.
No ulcers or pustules of any kind.
I can't see how to upload a picture to this follow up question but I am trying to download the app if possible through that.
XXXX.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be an infection or allergy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
You can upload on right side of your dashboard or you can send it to YYYY@YYYY and with subject as ATTN:Dr. Noble Zachariah
The small white flecks could be clumps of pus cells.
The lesion on the penis, I saw in your other question can be either an infection or a n allergic manifestation if there is itching over the lesion. You had taken a pain killer. What was it? Have you taken the same any time before. Nonsteroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) drugs can evoke an allergic response. Avoid taking it unless you have unbearable pain.
Do you have the urine test result with you? If so could you write it down if unable to upload without opening up another query.
If not please get a blood WBC total and differential count and a urine routine examination done and let me know the results.
You may require an antibiotic depending on the results.
Best wishes,
Dr Noble Zachariah

Hello,
I was given Fenbid Ibuprofen and Harnal (sustained release Tamsulosin Hydrochloride) - but I have taken ibuprofen before with no side effects.
The swelling above my pelvis has increased a little and I can feel a small lump within the swelling.
I have emailed the GP I saw on Tuesday to ask for the urine test results and will forward to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued help,
XXXX.
Hello Dr XXXXXXX
My urinalysis tests results were;
WBC - < 0-1 / HPF
RBC - 3 T (could be a 5) /HPF
EPC - < 0-1 /HPF
Chemical Analysis
SG 1.005
PH 6
LEU NEG
PRO NEG
GLU Neg
KET Neg
UBG Neg
BIL Neg
EAY Small S
Colour P,Yel
The red swollen patch grew last night but had shrunk again this morning. The burning sensation when I urinate is much more painful in the morning and as I drink more and more water the pain seems to decrease as my urine is dilluted.... is this consistent with the kidney stone diagnosis?
Regards,

Brief Answer:
Consistent with a stone disease.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Your urine results are Okay except if the RBC is 5/HPF. So from the results there is no urinary infection. This can mean a urinary stone disease. There will be crystalluria i.e. tiny bits of stone coming out in the urine. Your finding relief with drinking more water supports this. Keep drinking more water. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks as much as possible as it can make the symptoms worse.
The lesion on the penis may be a fixed drug eruption, an allergic condition. Allergy does not have to be to Ibuprofen but may be due to the incipients or to Tamsulosin.
An ultrasound examination will clear two issues- whether you have a stone and if so where - in the bladder or kidney and whether you have prostate hypertrophy and require Tamsulosin.
